O Canada: Highlighting books about Canada

This week, the library is highlighting Canadian Children’s Book Week. The Canadian Children’s Book Center has organized this yearly initiative, which was started in 1977. It allows Canadian authors to connect with children and teens to instill a lifelong love of reading by promoting their books in a safe and inclusive space. For more information, visit https://bookweek.ca/.

Today, however, we want to show off some picture books that you can share with your family, which celebrates the wonderful, diverse country in which we live. Scroll down to see some of the many Canada themed books that you can borrow from the library!

A lovable dog and his best friend Annie go on a road trip from British Colombia to Newfoundland in Linda Bailey’s book Carson Crosses Canada!

Learn to count from 1 to 10 with Canadian Animals in Geraldo Valerio’s Jump, Leap, Count Sheep!

Visit all 13 provinces and territories in Canada as Sophie and Bear look for each other in Where are you, Bear? by Frieda Wishinsky.

See how Canada geese start a family with April Pulley Sayre’s Honk! Honk! Goose!

In poetic verse, see everything that Canadian kids love to do, from one side of the country to the other in Heather Patterson’s I am Canada: A Celebration.

See all the colors Canada has to offer in nature in Per-Henrik Gurth's Canada in Colors!

We hope you will enjoy reading some of these books for Canadian Children's Book Week!
