Meadow Restoration

Did you know that approximately 99% of grasslands (including meadows) have been cleared from landscapes in southern Ontario? In order to help bring back these beautiful features, the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority is working on a multi-year project to restore a four hectare patch of meadow. You can see it if you look across the river, slightly to the west (or to your right). The goal is to bring back a variety of native plant species, which in turn will welcome back a variety of birds, insects and other species, such as Eastern meadowlark and bobolink!
